It's one of the most challenging river canyons in the South Pacific, but on June 22, an expedition team sponsored by Eddie Bauer finally managed to complete the first decent of the aquamarine Beriman River. This 30-mile stretch of narrow channels and technical whitewater on Papua New Guinea's New Britain island is so remote that the team had to be dropped off by helicopter.
