Biography

Hari Bahadur Budha Magar is a former British Gorkha soldier (British Gurkha Regiment) who lost both his legs above knees in April 2010 in an Afghanistan on stepping on a booby-trap explosive bomb. Young he was dreaming to climb Mt Dhaulagiri and Mt Sisne.

He served in the British army from January 1999 to January 2014.

Part of his traning, he climbed Mont Blance in France. He also trekked to the summit of Mera peak on September 20, 2017 and kayaked around the Isle of Wight.

He is married and has two sons and on daughter.

Comments for his expedition:

Magar isn't the first double amputee to summit the world's highest mountain. New Zealander Mark Inglis claimed that record in 2006. Double amputee Xia Boyu from China also scaled Everest in May 2018 (his fifth attempt) As Inglis and Xia are both below knee amputees, Magar is the first double above knee amputee to scale Mont Everest.
