Biography

Kevin Carr, 34, had to run the equivalent of a marathon a day for nearly two years to become the fastest man to skirt the planet on foot. His globetrotting adventure through 26 countries took just 621 days and included long stretches through India, Australia, Brazil, and the United States. Carr ran unsupported and carted his equipment in a buggy that he pushed as he navigated 16,300 miles of road and trail. The feat saw him use up 16 pairs of running shoes by the time he arrived back in South England on April 9.

Previous Record: Carr beat Australian Tom Denniss' 2013 record by a matter of hours.

The Near-Miss Moment: Carr was both chased by a bear in Canada and hunted by wolves in Romania on his quest to circle the world at a record time. He was also hit by a car not once, but twice.
