Description
<p>The idea of this challenge was to attempt to cross 3 different deserts in a duration of less than 12 month. All 3 deserts have a projected route of around 250km. They are relatively small but very arid. All deserts have been crossed somehow in the past but here the idea was to only carry the supplies (most heavy is water) in a backpack. This means the backpack at the start is extremely heavy and the the question is: How far we we walk in a desert, unsupported with just everything on the back.</p> <p>Everything on the back allows a total freedom of movement compared to a desert trek with a cart or camels. It also reduces the impact on the fragile vegetation or in decibels (sound volume). It is so pure to trek in those conditions that it allows a very good immersion into the traversed area.</p>

<p>Louis-Philippe Loncke made an attempt in 2013 at the Salar Trek. This failure on day 6 allowed him to learn a lot from his mistakes and actually later come up with the idea of this challenge and succeed in crossing these deserts. Louis-Philippe received the European Adventurer of the year award for the completion of this challenge and in the process achieving 2 world firsts.</p>
